Have you ever tried a weighted blanket? They feel amazing! They're designed to lower stress and anxiety, and improve the quality of your sleep. Now you can try one out in Launceston, rather that buying sight unseen online.
Hypnosis is great for weight loss but it's not always straightforward. If you're curious about the kinds of results you might see, and how I approach weight loss with my clients, keep reading!
"My family calls you the wizard", I heard from a beautiful client in Launceston this week. We both agreed it was better than being called a witch! The reason? She has lost 11cm from her waist and 9cm from her chest in just over a month. (We high fived!) She told me she now had amazing 'won't power' and had found it effortless to say no to the cakes and chocolate in her workplace.
Before I started treating burned out, worn out, anxious teachers, I would have assumed the most stressful part of teaching was the students. But if you're reading this, you probably already know of the other causes. I won't list them (because I don't want to frighten future Education students) BUT, if you are feeling:
Then I have a very comfortable recliner waiting for you.
After a great Winter of Bliss, these relaxation classes are going on spring/summer hiatus. This Friday 7th October and Saturday 8th October are your list chance to get your Bliss on.
I get lots of questions about hypnosis, and there are quite a few misconceptions about how it works. So here are some of the answers for you. Don't be afraid to contact me if you have more!
What happens during the appointment?
Initial appointments are 70 minutes long (75 minutes for smoking). The first half of the session we talk about what you want to change in your life, and how you want to feel. Sometimes we focus on just one thing (such as nail biting). Other times we may talk about the bigger picture of your life, how stressed you are, how often you have fun, that kind of thing.
After two wonderful years at Cinergee Day Spa in Tamar St, I'm moving on to a new treatment room at 127 George St Launceston, Bikram Yoga Launceston (the old Aquarius Roman Baths).
Grab your pencils! Here's a great free colouring book that you can use whenever you want to calm your mind or be a little creative. It's an ocean themed colouring book including pictures like this gorgeous whale. Colouring in can be very therapeutic, almost meditative. Just click the download button at the end of this blog post to get the book.
Start your weekend with a dose of calm at Bliss: Hypnotic Relaxation.
The class is a wonderful hypnotic relaxation in a beautiful enviornment. It is at a yoga studio, but there is no yoga involved. Rather, you simply relax while listening to my voice, lying on a comfy mat and cushions (provided for you) in a warm candlelit room. It's a great way to release the stress of the week and start the weekend feeling great. Bliss: Hypnotic Relaxation is at Bikram Yoga at 127 George St Launceston.
This Friday 7th October and Saturday 8th October are your list chance to get your Bliss on. Bliss is going on spring/summer hiatus to make way for some great new workshops!
If you find yourself at the end of the week feeling stressed or exhausted or just in need of a break, try Bliss: Hypnotic Relaxation. Friday's blissful class has had a great response so I'm trialing Saturdays as well. The class is a wonderfully relaxing thirty minutes, lying down on a matt and some cushions (provided for you) in a dimly lit room, listening to a hypnotic relaxation. It is at a yoga studio, but there is no yoga involved. It's a great way to release the stress of the week and start the weekend feeling great. Bliss: Hypnotic Relaxation is at Bikram Yoga at 127 George St Launceston, at 12.15pm on Fridays and 11.30am Saturdays.
Stressed or Anxious? Everybody has stress to some degree, it can be a good thing, motivating you to get out of bed in the morning and go to work. Or it can be overwhelming, stomach churning, head pounding and misery causing.
We try to contain it but it often bleeds into other aspects of our lives, sometimes in strange ways, like hair pulling, binge eating or drinking, smoking, nail biting, or gambling. Sometimes stress can even cause us to develop phobias. These are all ‘self-soothing’ behaviours. We all have ways of self-soothing. Just like babies have dummies or blankies, adults have things they do (whether deliberately or subconsciously) that calm them down or make them feel good.
Is it really possible to lose weight through an imaginary operation? Short answer – yes, absolutely!
Long answer – yes, but it can take more than just the 'operation' to make a lasting change to your weight.
Gastric Band Hypnosis (or lap band hypnosis) has become extremely popular wherever it is made available. Rather than going through the expense and physical trauma of surgery, you are guided through the operation in your mind, as if it really were happening.
If you'd like to try hypnosis, if you need to relax, or you just need to escape your desk on Fridays, try my new group Bliss: Hypnotic Relaxation at Bikram Yoga in George St Launceston, at 12.15pm on Fridays from July 1st.
There are some great FREE posters available for download over at http://www.actionforhappiness.org/happiness-posters . These posters are suitable for adults or kids and are a great reminder that you can increase your happiness by making some simple changes. The philosophies are similar to those I use with my hypnosis clients.
Do you have experience with the FIFO lifestyle? I've had a few FIFO (or drive in and out) workers as clients lately. It seems that this type of job (and lifestyle) can be a real trigger for binge drinking and smoking which can lead to anxiety, financial worries, relationship problems, health problems, the list goes on and on.
If you or a loved one are thinking about quitting smoking, then take a look at this great calculator - it not only tells you how much you spend on smoking each week, month and year, it calculates how much you've spent in your lifetime! It also has a nice graphic that illustrates the amount of tar going into your lungs each year.
Quit or cut down? Which is easier? I’m referring to chocolate, or beer or facebook or anything you have in your life that you consider unhealthy. The popular view these days is that you need to have a little bit of what you love so that you don’t feel deprived. If you swear off chocolate (or whatever it is) you will end up bingeing on it. Friends might offer you a muffin because ‘just one won’t hurt’. But some types of people do better if they go cold turkey.
Congratulations to my awesome client Robin! I love it when I get to boast about my clients (which doesn't happen often due to privacy reasons). But there's no hiding just how well Robin is doing, in fact he's even inspiring his work mates to lose weight as well! Keep up the great work!
What’s your ideal Christmas?
Growing up it may have been happy family, lots of presents, great food, and a long summer holiday free of responsibility. That was reality for many, but not all of us. What about now? Do you enjoy the festive season or is it increasingly stressful for you?
